Bolingbrook gives a dead car five days. Section 34-140(b) of the village code makes it a nuisance to leave a junk vehicle or junk parts on private or public property for longer than that, unless the car is shut in a building out of view or sits at a dismantler or junkyard. Section 34-148 puts the same five days on any car that is wrecked, dismantled, inoperative, unregistered or wearing expired plates. Five days goes by fast. We buy junk cars in Bolingbrook in whatever state they’re in, and Junk My Car Inc never takes the cost of the tow out of the offer.
Five days, then it’s the owner’s problem
Section 34-141 puts the duty on whoever owns the property: remove the vehicle, or enclose it in a building. A garage works only if there’s room, and in a two-car garage that already holds the daily drivers, there usually isn’t. A car on blocks in the driveway, a wreck waiting on an insurance decision, a minivan with a dead transmission: all of them count once the five days are up.
Bolingbrook street rules, from 2 a.m. to the first big snow
Pushing the dead car to the curb doesn’t solve anything. Section 50-43(a) bars parking on any street, parkway, alley or other public place from 2 to 6 a.m. unless you notify the police first and get their approval. Once snow passes 2 inches, Section 50-38 keeps cars off the streets during removal until the work is finished. A car left illegally parked for 7 days straight may be treated as abandoned and impounded under Section 50-47.
Driveways, townhouse lots and a short stop
Bolingbrook began in the 1960s as a planned new town on the Gateway Wetlands west of the Des Plaines River, and it was incorporated in 1965. Today about 79 percent of its homes are owner-occupied. Roughly 72 percent are detached houses, about 14 percent are townhouses or other attached homes, and around 11 percent sit in buildings of five or more units (ACS 2020 to 2024). Most pickups happen at a driveway or garage; for a townhouse or apartment lot, let the association or manager know a tow truck is coming.
The village also caps how long a truck collecting junk may stay parked in a residential district: 10 minutes, under Section 50-48. Our driver loads and goes, so having your papers in hand keeps the stop short.
I-55, I-355 and Bolingbrook Drive
I-55, the Stevenson, crosses the south part of the village, and I-355 runs down the far east side to meet it at exit 269. Route 53 is Bolingbrook Drive through the middle of town. Several main roads carry newer names: Veterans Parkway was Naperville Road, Hassert Boulevard was 111th Street, and Rodeo Drive was 119th Street. Weber Road, Boughton Road and Lily Cache Lane are the others people use for directions.
As junk car buyers in Bolingbrook, we take cars, trucks, vans and SUVs, keys or no keys. Send the details through the quote form and we call back within 15 minutes, any day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Missing the title? List the papers you have, such as a registration card or bill of sale; Illinois rules settle which of them can support a scrap sale, and we check that with you on the call. Our walk-through of a junk car sale covers the rest.
Bolingbrook touches Woodridge to the north, Romeoville to the south and Plainfield to the southwest, and down I-355 we offer junk car pickup in Lemont. The areas page has every town we serve.
