Palos Hills runs one of the strictest night-parking rules on our map, and it doesn’t bend much. It turns a dead car into a problem on day one: once a vehicle stops running, there is nowhere on the street for it to spend the night. Junk My Car Inc’s junk car buyers collect from driveways, garages and apartment lots across the city.
The night ban and its three exceptions
Section 10.08.040 bars parking on any public street from 2 to 6 a.m., every day of the year. Snow tightens it: once 2 inches is on the ground, no street parking at all (Section 10.08.030).
Exceptions exist, but they’re rationed. You can request one by phone or online, up to three times a year, each covering up to three consecutive nights, and none is granted once snow starts until removal is done.
There’s one small out. Section 10.08.045 lets a car park on a street shoulder during the banned hours, or in snow, if no part of it is within 5 feet of the pavement edge. A car that won’t start usually can’t be moved there anyway.
When the city sends a letter
Palos Hills gives owners more time than most before a car counts as inoperable: parts removed or altered so it can’t run under its own power for at least six months. Cars kept in a building, historic vehicles 25 years or older and wrecking businesses are excluded. A partially dismantled, wrecked or junked car may never be left on a street, inoperable and abandoned cars are nuisances on public or private property, and once the city gives written notice, the owner must dispose of the car.
Apartments and condos
Nearly half of Palos Hills homes are in buildings with two or more units, a third in buildings with five or more. For a pickup from a shared lot, clear it with the manager, tell us which entrance to use, and we’ll handle the tow.
Getting to you
95th Street (US 12 and 20) is the four-lane road through the city, and Pace runs several routes. The North Palos Fire Protection District has two stations in the city, 1 and 2, if you need a landmark. Tell us the nearest cross street on 95th or the name of your complex, and request the offer online.
Papers and nearby towns
If the title is missing, tell us what you have; Illinois rules decide which papers work for a scrap sale, and we’ll confirm on the call. Our page on who can buy a car without its title goes further.
North of the city, Hickory Hills only lets an undrivable car sit inside a garage; read our Hickory Hills page. Beyond it is Justice. Next door to the southeast, Worth has its own rules for snow and for-sale cars; see junk car buyers in Worth. To the south we also buy junk cars in Palos Park, and southeast in Palos Heights. All the towns we serve are grouped by corridor.
